About mrpacktozipconverter.com
mrpacktozipconverter.com is a free, browser-based converter between Modrinth modpack files (.mrpack) and standard ZIP archives, aimed at Minecraft players and modpack authors. It exists because Modrinth's open pack format and the rest of the launcher ecosystem don't always overlap: great packs get stuck in a format your launcher can't read.
The converter is deliberately simple technologically: there is no backend. Your browser reads the file, does the conversion, and saves the result. Mod downloads (when enabled) go straight from your browser to Modrinth's CDN. That makes the tool private by construction — and cheap enough to run without ads, accounts or paywalls.
The site is built and maintained by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with Modrinth, CurseForge or Mojang. Corrections and feedback are welcome at [email protected].
Credit where due: the approach was inspired by the open-source projects listed on the Credits section of the home page — in particular Fabulously-Optimized/mrpack-to-zip, nekoxuee/mrpack-to-zip and cursetomod.
Privacy policy
Short version: your files never leave your browser. This page has the details.
Files you convert
All conversion happens locally in your browser. Your .mrpack/ZIP files, their contents, and the converted output are never uploaded to us or anyone else. There is no server that could receive them. When the “Download mod files” option is enabled, your browser downloads mod files directly from cdn.modrinth.com — those requests go to Modrinth, not to us, and we never see, proxy or cache them.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. The gtag.js snippet sets cookies in your browser — _ga and similar, lasting up to 2 years — to distinguish visitors and sessions, and sends Google data such as the pages and events viewed, device and browser details, and approximate location derived from your IP address (Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses). Google processes this data under its own terms and may transfer it to the United States; measurement data is retained for up to 14 months. You can opt out with Google's official browser add-on or by blocking requests to googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com. If you visit from the EU/EEA, note that these cookies are set before any consent prompt — blocking them in your browser settings is the reliable way to prevent it. We do not run advertising and do not sell data.
Hosting logs
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard connection logs under its own privacy policy. We do not have access to raw connection logs beyond the aggregates described above.
Third-party requests
When you enable mod downloads, requests go from your browser directly to Modrinth's CDN and API (cdn.modrinth.com / api.modrinth.com). Modrinth's privacy policy applies to those requests. This site never stands between you and Modrinth.
Local storage
Converter settings (mode, checkboxes, form fields) live only in your open tab's memory — they are not written to localStorage or cookies. The only persistent value is your light/dark theme preference, stored in your browser's localStorage under the key theme. It never leaves your device.
Your rights
Under regulations like the GDPR or CCPA you can request access to or deletion of your personal data. Since we don't collect personal data, there is generally nothing to access or delete — but if you have questions, contact [email protected] and we'll respond promptly.
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the site; the effective date at the top will always reflect the current version.
Credits & acknowledgements
This site exists because of the open-source Minecraft tooling community. The converter here was written from scratch in vanilla JavaScript — fflate for ZIP handling, Web Crypto for hashing — but these projects blazed the trail:
Fabulously-Optimized/mrpack-to-zip
The original browser-based mrpack → zip converter.
nekoxuee/mrpack-to-zip
A Vue + Tailwind rewrite of the same idea (GPL v2).
cursetomod (curseforge-to-modrinth-cli)
Desktop CLI for full CurseForge → Modrinth pack conversion.
packwiz
Create and manage Modrinth-format packs from the command line.
mrpacktozipconverter.com is an independent project and is not affiliated with Modrinth, CurseForge, or Mojang/Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB.
